JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE! WEEEEEEEE’RE BAAAAACK!
In 2013, I resolve to be more critical of fashion, of music, of cinema, and of art in general. The world was supposed to end 12/21/12 and WE’RE STILL HERE! That means, STEP YOUR GAME UP! You’re not a bad ass because you’re wearing studded shoes and a Nirvana t-shirt anymore. TRY HARDER. And I pray to sweet baby J that Dubstep dies a quiet and painful death this year. I know I am not alone in that boat. I also know it’s too early for capital letters, but I know you missed me.
I’ve never been more proud to be a Seattleite! Travel & Leisure just ranked 35 metropolitan cities based on how culturally ‘aware’ they are including; live music, coffee bars, indie boutiques, etc., which in turn declares them, America’s Best Cities for Hipsters. And Seattle ranked #1!
No. 1 Seattle
These northwesterners prove that a key to hipsterness is being ahead of the curve: they won the survey for their smarts, their tech savvy, and their high-octane coffee. As a result, the geek chic may be a little more buttoned-down here than in other cities. Look for representatives in the up-and-coming South Lake Union area, near downtown, or in former Scandinavian neighborhood Ballard, site of some of the city’s hottest restaurants, such as oyster bar The Walrus and the Carpenter.
